IKEJA HOUSE — November 5, 2025

In a renewed effort to foster participatory governance and citizen inclusion, the Ikeja Local Government, under the leadership of Executive Chairman Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Tuesday held the 2026 Budget Community Stakeholders’ Engagement for residents of Ward A and Ward B.

The event, organized by the Budget Department of Ikeja Local Government headed by Dr. (Mrs.) Yemisi Razak, drew wide participation from community stakeholders including councillors, party leaders, religious and traditional authorities, pressure groups, and representatives of various tribal associations.

The Regent of Ikeja, Chief Isiaka Apena, attended the session at Ward A, lending royal support to the initiative. The meeting provided a platform for residents to interact directly with government officials — raising questions, offering suggestions, and contributing ideas that will shape a truly people-oriented 2026 budget.

In his remarks, Mayor Dauda commended the department for the successful coordination of the event and expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their civic engagement and cooperation. He reiterated that inclusive governance remains a fundamental pillar of his administration’s I.K.E.J.A Agenda, emphasizing that “every citizen has a role to play in shaping the future of Ikeja.”

He also appealed to residents to stay committed to community growth by paying their taxes and levies promptly, describing tax payment as “the fuel that drives development and enables government to deliver the dividends of democracy effectively.”

Supporting the chairman’s position, Vice Chairman Hon. Abisola Omisore reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sustainable development across all sectors.

According to the Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Mr. Olalekan Oni, the stakeholders’ engagement will continue in other wards over the coming days, ensuring that every voice within Ikeja is heard and represented in the 2026 fiscal plan.
