Police Arrest Principal Suspects in High-Profile Double Murder, Declare Financier Wanted

The Lagos State Police Command has announced a major breakthrough in the investigation of two high-profile murder cases that occurred in Eti-Osa area of the state in 2023 and 2024.
Addressing journalists on Thursday, February 19, 2026, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, confirmed the arrest of two principal suspects connected to the killings of Sheriff Salami Ishola and Prince Ademola Akinloye.
According to the police, Sheriff Salami Ishola, aged 37, was murdered on April 18, 2023, at Moba Town in Ajah after he was reportedly ambushed, dragged into an isolated building and shot multiple times by armed attackers.
The second victim, Prince Ademola Akinloye, son of the Ojomu of Ajiran land, was also shot dead along Chevron Road in Ajiran on August 26, 2024, in what investigators described as a similar pattern of attack carried out by the same gang.
Police say the suspects — Safiu Fatai, also known as “Fabo”, and Yusuf Ismaila, also known as “Bariga” — are now in custody and have confessed to participating in both killings. They allegedly admitted acting on the orders of one Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi, who reportedly hired them and paid two million naira after the first murder, while promising further rewards.
Investigations revealed the suspects used locally fabricated pistols and other weapons during the attacks before fleeing the scenes.
Although the incidents occurred before CP Jimoh assumed office, he ordered the cases reopened after new intelligence emerged, leading to the arrests on January 24 and February 6, 2026.
The police have now declared Ahmed Tajudeen Akanbi — identified as the alleged sponsor — wanted alongside other accomplices including Soji Mascot, Kenny and Bode.
The Commissioner of Police urged members of the public within and outside Nigeria to report any information about the suspects to the nearest police station or through the official emergency lines provided by the command.
