IGP EGBETOKUN LAYS FOUNDATION FOR NEW POLICE CONFERENCE CENTRE IN LAGOS

The Lagos State Police Command on Thursday hosted a landmark ceremony as the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Olukayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, laid the foundation for the *IGP Adeolu Olukayode Egbetokun Conference Centre* at the Command Headquarters, Ikeja.
The project, named in honour of the Inspector-General himself, represents a major stride in his ongoing efforts to modernize the Nigeria Police Force and reposition it for efficient service delivery in line with global standards.
Envisioned as a world-class multipurpose facility, the forthcoming Conference Centre is designed to serve as a central hub for high-level security deliberations, inter-agency coordination, policy dialogues, media engagements, and advanced capacity-building programmes. The structure, when completed, is expected to enhance the Command’s operational efficiency and improve institutional collaboration across security agencies.
Speaking during the foundation-laying ceremony, IGP Egbetokun applauded the Lagos State Police Command under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, for its sustained record of excellence, innovation, and discipline. He urged other state commands to emulate the Lagos model, emphasizing that infrastructural development and technological advancement remain crucial to achieving a responsive and future-ready Police Force.
In a statement confirming the event, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, ANIPR, MIPRA, described the project as a reflection of the Inspector-General’s visionary leadership and commitment to institutional development within the Force.
According to her, the new facility will not only serve operational needs but also promote a culture of continuous learning and strategic engagement across all levels of policing.
