POWA Lagos Marks International Women’s Day with “Give To Gain” Celebration Theme

The Police Officers' Wives Association (POWA), Lagos State Chapter, on Sunday commemorated the 2026 edition of International Women’s Day with a vibrant and memorable celebration held at the POWA Secretariat on Oduduwa Street in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos State.


The event, which carried the theme “Give To Gain,” was organized under the leadership of the Lagos State POWA Chairperson, Mrs Risiqat Oluwatoyin Jimoh. The gathering brought together wives of police officers, senior officers of the command, and distinguished guests in an atmosphere filled with appreciation, unity, and celebration of women’s contributions to society.

Among the notable personalities present were the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and his wife—who also serves as the State Chapter Chairperson of POWA—alongside wives of Deputy Commissioners of Police, wives of Assistant Commissioners, female Area Commanders, and other active officers of the command.


The colourful event featured moments of appreciation and recognition, including a generous gift presentation from the command to members of POWA, reinforcing the association’s spirit of support, welfare, and solidarity among police families.



A particularly emotional moment of the ceremony was the remembrance of the late CP Odusola, whose wife was present at the event. Attendees paid tribute to the late officer’s legacy and service, acknowledging his contributions to policing and the enduring support of his family within the police community.


The celebration, marked by glitz, camaraderie, and heartfelt reflections, underscored POWA’s continued commitment to strengthening family bonds within the Nigeria Police Force while empowering women through compassion, service, and collective progress.


The Lagos State POWA leadership reiterated that the theme “Give To Gain” reflects the association’s philosophy that acts of generosity, support, and unity ultimately foster stronger communities and institutions.
